Our Company

Cogent began as a crude oil and refined products distribution and marketing company. With the boom in shale oil production in the Bakken and the experience of Randy and Steve in crude oil and rail logistics it quickly expanded into asset development.

Cogent developed and operated two crude oil unit train terminals in Wyoming, Casper Crude to Rail as well as Cheyenne Rail Hub. The Casper Crude to Rail facility was sold to US Development Partners in 2015. Cheyenne Rail Hub was sold on January 31, 2017 to Granite Peak Development.

Today, Cogent remains a crude oil, condensate and refined products marketing company. Randy and Steve sit on the Board of Directors of Cogent, and are still actively involved in the day-to-day management and oversight of the business as they influence the strategic direction of the company and identifying opportunities in the market place. Dan Withers now serves as President of Cogent and is surrounded by an experienced management team.
